historical causation is not used to determine whether sources are reliable or biases, causation helps us to determine how events happened and it can even teach us some things about the past in relation to the present. So we could actually eliminate choices A And C

ok what about choice D

Choice D is not a bad answer, but it's not really specific about what actually caused something, it just says "historical context". So if I were to answer this question, I would choose choice B instead since it has the key word, "Led..." in it, which is a word for cause and effect
