Question

I started writing dis awhile ago but just finished it today. Mah inspiration was a statement a stranger made in a video I watched. The quote: “There is a point at which you’re on the boat and you gotta see the boat to the other end… because it’s worked this far and you can’t really get off the boat halfway. Sometimes you can–I can’t. I don’t have another boat. And I’d rather be in the boat than in the water.”

My boat is small. Small and uncomfortable. But it exists. And I exist within it. It is not my first boat–there were others before it, plenty of others. Some were big and grand and easy to maneuver, and some were little nothings that barely counted as a boat.
I remember having a big boat. It moved effortlessly and nothing went wrong as I passed through these waters. But this boat creaks and shrieks and tosses and turns. It does not seem to like the water very much. The waters seem to reject it.
What the waters really crave, what they hunger and scratch at the boat for, is me. The waters want me, but I am not ready to drown in their greatness. And thus I am on this boat that life provided for me as I reach the end of these treacherous waters and start again to the other side with a different boat.
Yes, my boat is small, flimsy, and bothersome, but it exists. And I’d rather be in the boat than in the water.
