tobiasrose:

If PP purple plants are crossed with pp white plants, what will be the possible combinations of factors if the F1 generation is allowed to self-pollinate?

HisBBGurl:

Are you familer wit the punnet square. Those really do help.

KyledaGreat:

If PP purple plants are crossed with pp white plants, the F1 generation will all be Pp, which means they will all have a purple phenotype because P is dominant over p. If the F1 generation is allowed to self-pollinate, the possible combinations of factors in the F2 generation will be: - PP (25%): Homozygous dominant plants with a purple phenotype - Pp (50%): Heterozygous plants with a purple phenotype - pp (25%): Homozygous recessive plants with a white phenotype Therefore, the ratio of purple to white plants in the F2 generation would be 3:1.
