AMC0413:

What equation is solved by the graphed systems of equations? Two linear equations that intersect at the point 7, 25. 3x + 4 = 5x − 10 3x − 4 = 5x − 10 3x + 4 = 5x + 10 3x − 4 = 5x + 10

when you solve a system of equations by graphing, you look for the intersection between the two graphs. so thinking in reverse, each line graphed must match one of the equations. can you try writing the equation for each graph? to start with, the left line has a point at (0,5) and (7,25), so you can use the slope formula to determine the slope m. the y-intercept is already given as (0,5) so you know the b-value in y = mx + b must be 5. repeat this logic w/ the other line.
