Hip-hop is a song genre that originated somewhere in the 1900's. Its an old style trend but originated from Queens of NY. Started with beats and old style radio then people started rapping to it.

They are both genres of music. Hip-hop has a fast beat and words. Pop refers to modern popular music with a strong melody and beat. Pop is considered the melting pot of all genres.
