They treated me like I belonged there, they treated how any parents would. I finally felt like I belonged., up until 2nd grade. I would get made fun of because of the way I looked and why my hair looked like that and talked that why, and why my name was spelled like that. I was ashamed of who I was, but as I grew up I learned to love my curly hair, I learned to love my accent, I learned to love the way I talked, and I learned to love who I was.
I also say my life is like a plant because once a leaf that has bug bites and broken parts has fallen off, it's kinda like an old part of me has gotten better, as they say. ¨Out with the old, in with the new.¨ And with each leaf that grew back I feel regenerated, I feel new. People think being adopted is the most horrible thing because they think it meant my birth parents didn't want me, but it's not. I think it's a wonderful thing, that some strangers with open arms are willing to take in a 4-year-old. Being adopted was like turning a page in a chapter book, you don't know what the next page could hold, say, or do. Again, it's like a journey, a journey I'm willing to go on. One of my best memories with my adoptive parents was when they took me to the Bahamas with them, I actually felt part of their family, although we do get negative comments like “ Why is she light-skinned and you guys are black?’ or “ Why doesn't she look like you guys?” I learned to ignore them, up until 4th grade. My classmate saw my mom come to school early to pick me up early, and he goes “Why is your mom black, and your white?” I didn't know what to say, I just shrugged my shoulder smiled, and ignored him.
It hurt me because people who I wasn't even close to asked me questions like the adults at my church ¨Are you sure your Haitian?¨ ¨WHy are you that color?¨ What really hurt me the most was ¨ Why were you adopted?¨ All I could do then was tell my parents, and they said ¨You know what you are and what your worth¨.
I say my life is like a plant because of new leaves growing resembling new chapters of my life, my biological parents had changed that for me. They taught me, love, they taught me courage, they taught me if I want something in life, go for it because the only person whos stopping me is me.
The last reason why my life is like a plant is because I love where I am. If a plant grows in the sunlight and grows in soil, it loves where it is.
When the time comes, you'll be shocked at what it could hold. I've opened all my doors, have you?

I'm in love with this. Keep it up. I don't know if it is a story or what it is but I love it. I kind of relate to it a little bit, not a whole bunch but just a little bit. I love it so much. Great job.
