Help! Drag each number to the correct location on the equation. Each number can be used more than once, but not all numbers will be used. Happy Horses Stable charges a flat rate of $12 to rent a horse plus $5 per hour. Charlie paid $37 to rent a horse. How many hours, x, did he pay to have the horse? Drag and drop the correct numbers into the boxes to complete the equation that models the situation. Then, solve for x. 12 17 37 20 10 4 5 6 __x+__=__

AstridBella:

he correct value of x will be 5.

Aries:

Going off from this, the first blank will have a 5, as five dollars per hour indicates that the person could work any amount of time they want to. If Charlie paid 37 dollars to rent the horse, then that is the total amount paid, so therefore 37 would be in the last blank. Charlie also had to pay a flat rate of 12 dollars, so 12 would go in the second blank Your equation would be 5x+12=37 Hope this helps you some

Aries:

yes, thanks

Sailor:

And solving it should be pretty easy, but if a decimal pops up don't be surprised. Just subtract 12 from 37, then divide whatever you get from that by 5

Aries:

okay thank you!

Sailor:

You're welcome :)
