Lars:

The American colonies had the power of self government. Explanation: "The American colonies grew and flourished under British supervision. Like many adolescents, the colonies rebelled against their parent country by declaring independence. But the American democratic experiment did not begin in 1776. The COLONIES had been practicing limited forms of self-government since the early 1600s." https://www.ushistory.org/gov/2a.asp

Is that the actual questions? It seems incomplete or something.

KyledaGreat:

The American colonies had varying degrees of self-government before the American Revolution. Some of the powers that the colonies had included the ability to pass their own laws, collect taxes, and establish their own courts. However, the British government maintained significant control over the colonies, particularly in matters of trade and commerce. After the American Revolution and the establishment of the United States as an independent nation, the new name of the country became "The United States of America". The new federal government established under the U.S. Constitution in 1789 granted certain powers to the federal government, but also preserved significant powers for the states. These powers are often referred to as "reserved powers" and include the ability to regulate commerce within the state, establish and maintain schools, and regulate elections. The balance of power between the federal government and the states has been the subject of ongoing debate and interpretation throughout U.S. history.
