In case you still need assistance with this question..... So basically the foreign policy of 1980s was renewed and focused on anti-communism. President Ronald Regan's administration was to assert American power in the world, he funded an anti-communist "freedom fighters" in order to rollback Soviet influence. The main goal of the foreign policy of 1980s was winning Cold War and the rollback of communism, which was achieved in 1989. Hope this helps you!
