"After the fall"

The leaves rustle underfoot,
As I walk through the woods alone,
The sun is setting in the sky,
And the air is turning cold.

The beauty of the world surrounds me,
As I contemplate what has passed,
The fall of all I once held dear,
And the memories that will last.

The darkness creeps in slowly,
As the night begins to fall,
But I am not afraid, for I know,
That after the fall comes a new dawn.

I will rise again, like the phoenix,
From the ashes of my past,
And I will be stronger, wiser,
And better than ever at last.

So let the winds of change blow,
And the leaves fall where they may,
For I am ready for whatever comes,
After the fall, a new day.
