Well, this is easy here you go!- In 1868, President Johnson refused to sign a bill passed by Congress that aimed to safeguard the rights of former slaves. As tensions between the President and lawmakers escalated, the House of Representatives ultimately voted to impeach Johnson on February 24th of that same year.
