Basically 8 to the power of 0 is like saying 8 and that's it

they are Multi by 2 multi by 8 divi by 2 divi by 4 divi by 8

Well, if you know how exponents work, you would know that as the power increases, it is multiplied by that same base, so for example: \[\large 8^3=8*8*8\] As you go down: \[\large 8^2=8*8\] \[\large 8^1=8\] \[\large 8^0=1 \] As it DECREASE.. do you notice what is happening? Every power down, it is getting divided by a factor of 8.
