lilbart:

Provide examples of each of the types of sound used in the film ( A quiet place): synchronous, asynchronous, diegetic, non-diegetic, and Foley sound.

OLIVER69:

Synchronous is sound/audio that matches up with what's happening on screen. Example: When the dad and son are by the water, and they start talking because rushing water means the monsters can't hear them Asynchronous is sound/audio that doesn't match up what's happening on screen. Example: When the little boy in the beginning starts the toy airplane and it can be heard that the monster is coming. Diegetic is sound that is able to occur within the context of the story and able to be heard by the audience. Example: When the little boy in the beginning starts the toy plane and it attracts the monster. Non-diegetic is having a source of external to the context and not being able to hear by the characters. Example: What the Deaf girl thinks as she goes off to her little brother's grave. Foley is custom sounds made in production. Example: When they are walking and they are not trying to make sounds with their footsteps. (I hope I could help.)
