Hey guys, I'm back, not with an animation (sorry) but just a question about careers n stuff and I want to hear your thoughts about it. If you have already seen my posts, you know that I do animations as my hobby and you guys liked my work. My question is that since animation takes too much time and going into the film industry is quite risky (I'm not a risk taker), is going into computer science and then into game designing/ development an alternate way to enjoy and share my creativity? I just want to hear your true opinions, don't worry I won't get offended...lol, but yea...feel free to share. Thanks!
While computer science will definitely set you up to be marketable in the world, it is also a very commonly majored field. Doing computer science and being mediocre at it might leave you with few options, but being great at it will open you up for tons of opportunities. Make sure to do the obvious internships at every available turn and if you can, get some solo hands-on experience doing a project (you mentioned game development, how about modding your favorite game?). Goes a long way for resume content. Just be sure that if you do choose computer science, you excel at it.
Thx a lot!
If animation takes too much effort why go towards jobs and careers that take even more effort? Hard work pays off Bru you can't achieve your dream w out working yourself hard
ye u r right, but its just the fact that I overthink: "what if I don't get in?" "what if I won't be able to sustain my life with that job?" "what if I can't make it to a good position?"
Those r somethings i think of
But you realize the chances of that are even worse with higher up jobs like the ones you're actually trying to get into right..?
...good point
Yep
Work on animation and then slowly work your way up hopefully you'll receive a work offer or sum
There is no substitute for hard work, and not enough people are willing to put in a lot of it to develop skills. If you study hard and do your things on the side too to show your passions to the future employer, they'll notice
I mean aside animation i am into film such as directing or acting
Acting is ez to get offered into and achieve, try that
hmm, but i have never done it before tho, like I did not do theatre and now I'm about to apply to college, is it fine tho?
Uhh definitely get practice either with someone else or a acting coach and post a bit or sign up for acting gigs
Ezpz you'll get a offer
ahh well its fine, i could still go for directing I guess
Maybe
Hard work pays off though eventually you'll get there
@Sxmpathy everything youre saying screams inexperience. Animation requires 16-18 hours of hardwork everyday to create a 10 minute video. Its that kinda hardwork and you dont even know if itll help u sustain, getting a good paying job is difficult too.
Just do what ever you find more fulfilling. I used to be a welder. I made a lot of money but that wasn't what I wanted to do anymore. It lost its taste. Now I'm a therapist and a Co owner of a wrap shop (sticker status idaho) and I couldn't be happier in life
cool advice! ty
