Martina hits a volleyball ball upward with an initial velocity of 13 m/s. When she hits the ball, it is 1m above the ground. How long will it take the ball to hit the ground?

Use the kinematics equation delta x = (v_0)t + (1/2)at^2 where delta x is the difference between the final height (0, since the final position is on the ground) and the starting height (1). v_0 is the initial velocity (13 m/s), a is the acceleration due to gravity (-9.81 m/s^2). Plug in the appropriate quantities and solve for t.
