"Escape the Haunted Mansion: The Curse of 'X'

You find yourself trapped in a haunted mansion or cabin etc., and the only way to escape is by solving the curse's equation. It could be like something ummmm such as "Legend has it that the curse can only be broken if you determine the value of 'x' in the equation:
3x + 20 = 67" do you see what I'm trying to do now?

You may also have such an undertitle to set the mood like: Can you decipher the meaning behind the numbers and solve for 'x' to break the curse and escape the mansion before it's too late?"

I'm not sure if a horror theme is what you're going for or if you have another idea you want to go with, but nonetheless, you can use the idea I suggested or create something entirely different whatever you want! ^-^
