Such as, commutative property, associative property, distributive property, and plenty others.

How to do algebra the PEMDAS way: 
Anything in this things that I can't spell () goes first

Then you do exponents

Then after that you can multiply everything you need to multiply

Then divide anything you need to divide

Then add anything that needs to be added together

And finally subtract if the problem needs you to subtract

If you know your PEMDAS it'll make your algebra a whole lot easy.
Best way to remember it: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally.
It's how you solve most of algebra by doing the steps in this order.
