So let's choose a t-shirt from china and the exchange rate for yuan Is 6.4651. The shirt costs 14.29 USD. But we want this in yuan right? So we multiply 14.29 and 6.4651 and that would give us the amount. And the final amount would he 20.7551

NicholasH:

But how did you get it?

So to try and simplify it down a bit more for ya: As stated, the conversion rate of 1 US dollar to yuans is 6.4651. Meaning, every 1 dollar will get you 6.4651 yuans when exchanged. Now, let's take another item from the shop - Let's say the decorative mug that is $11.99. So in order to convert between the currencies, you need to multiply by the conversion rate, in this case: 6.4651 to get it into Yuan. So - \[\large 6.4651 * 11.99 \approx 77.51655 \] So the cost for the decorative mug in Yuan, would be approximately 77.52 Yuan.
