I don't think it will be a long term affect. The doctor gave me some anti-biotics to help. I was just asking if there are any tips to help with the comfort.

SoundwaveKun:

A ruptured eardrum, also known as a tympanic membrane perforation, is a painfuI and concerning condition. lt's doubly important to seek medical attention immediately. Here are some things you can do until then: Seek medicaI attention, protect your ear, keep your ear dry, use acetaminophen or ibuprofen to aIIeviate the pain, avoid Ioud noises, use ear drops if possibIe, and get pIenty of rest in a quiet area (if at aII possibIe).

SoundwaveKun:

Hope you get better! ^_^

La1la:

yea

Dolphan:

My doctor gave me amoxicillin, and some ear drops. So hopefully that works. Any comfort ideas? Because this is starting to hurt, really bad.

Chewing gum and using a warm compress are two really good ideas! ^_^

La1la:

this might work but what I did was hold a ice pack slightly under my ear

La1la:

after I put a warm water bottle where the icepack was

actually chewing gum isn't a good idea- you'd have to move ur jaw- which will make u move ur ear- which will then bother her ear more

karissafrazier:

i know from experince

It depends on the individual person which is why I added to answers as opposed to one. Chewing gum balanced out the ear for me and enabled me to feel better along with medication and the warm compress.

La1la:

which is a good thing but it may hurt worse
