According to legend, Galileo dropped a ball from the Tower of Pisa. If the tower has a height of 55.9 m, and neglecting air resistance, how much time would it take a lead ball to reach the ground? (answer with units and 3 significant figures)

This has been closed but just I case you still needed help with this, you’d use the kinematic equation x = (v0)t + (1/2)at^2 where x is the distance (in this case, the vertical distance 55.9m), v0 is initial velocity (since it’s being dropped, v0 = 0), a is acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s^2), t is time. Plug in the appropriate quantities and solve for t.
