You might need to rest.

I play varsity basketball and this has happened to me. You may have hyper-extended something or simply sprained a ligament in your knee. Elevate ya knee and stay safe on the court.

I played basketball for 7 years, I recommend putting some ice on it. Moving the ice on every spot that hurts every 15-30 minutes. Also remember to elevate your leg while icing it. It will help with the pain plus help the ice get to where it hurts quicker. I would also say to rest for one day and slowly get back into intense workouts.

I remmend on top of that to stop doing squats for about 1 day to do some stretches and the next day to take it easy don't push it the next workout day

Not really to be honest, it was fun the first few years then it started getting bored after my 5 year but still decided to play couple more years.

Ice to help with any swelling, maybe a knee brace as well, make sure to take ibuprofen for swelling and stay safe out there. If it gets worse, definitely go to the doctor.

Elevate the knee, put ice on it, and take some Ibuprofen if available
