ErickaWasNotHere:

can some help me calculate the mean median and mode of this data set? ( 5, 10, 7, 8, 2, 1, 4)

Lars:

To add onto the above user, to find the mean you add up all the numbers in the data set and then divide by the total count. Your data set is (5, 10, 7, 8, 2, 1, 4), so you would add them all up: (5 + 10 + 7 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 4) and then divide by 7 since there are 7 numbers. 5 + 10 + 7 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 4 equals 37. Now, since there are 7 numbers in total, we divide the sum which is 37, by 7. So, the mean of this data set is 37 divided by 7, which equals 5.29 (rounded to two decimal places). The mode is the number that appears most frequently in the data set. In this case none of the numbers repeat, so the data set doesn't have a mode.
