CelestiaI:

What is the origin and nature of consciousness and why do we dream?

Treeko:

There are many theories about why we dream: the threat-simulation theory sees dreaming as an evolutionary “practice ground” for dealing with threats; the expectation-fulfillment theory says that we use up emotional energy during the night; the activation-synthesis theory claims that dreams are meaningless ...

I mean your own personal thoughts. Not Google.

Treeko:

I am a genius thxxxx :> I dunno. Maybe bc that's the way God formed and made us? It helps us feel more? Because maybe we might get the courage in our dream to do something we wouldn't do in real life. Like talk to your crush.

Treeko:

Yeah thats true aswell. It can help us experience things we wouldnt/couldnt if we wanted to.

Dolphan:

I feel as if we dream because of past memories, and present memories. In our mind we store important memories, and some not so important memories, such as what we ate for dinner, but also to the big memories such as your parents getting married. I feel as if our brain just wants us to relive/not forget those memories.

yes exactly.

Flippy:

I have a book about this, Psychologists don't really have a solid answer about why we dream but they do have a couple of theories which Treeko already said my book goes into a lot of depth so I'll explain each one. so the first theory is that it helps the brain process memories better or things we can't quite grasp in "reality" or when we're conscious. for example, when I found out my dad had cancer that night I had a dream about basically his whole future and my dad was talking to me in the dream telling me that what'll happen will happen and he isn't mad because he's had an extremely blessed life, because that was his response when anybody asked him if he was sad that he had cancer (which isn't really an appropriate question to ask but that's just my opinion). the second theory is dreaming also helps us cope with or process our emotions better and use our imagination a lot better. it's an extremely amazing thing that our brain can do, it takes all the abstract thoughts and things you hold deep inside and makes it a "reality" while you're sleeping. dreaming can also accompany psychiatric conditions which is what some psychologists have found. dreams stem more from your imagination the third theory is waking and dreaming are mirror images of one another which interact throughout our lives to create consciousness in the first place and endow it with information for purposes of adaptation as we live out our lives. I tried to summarize it in my own words as much as I could but i got lazy and typed the last theory word for word in my book but hope this kind of helps

at least i can type more than 4 words

ofrootloops:

The nature of consciousness is a complex and widely debated topic in the field of psychology and neuroscience. Consciousness refers to our subjective experience of the world around us and our internal thoughts and feelings. Many theories have been proposed to explain the nature of consciousness, but there is still much that is not fully understood. As for dreaming, it is believed to be a result of the brain's normal activity during sleep. While we sleep, our brain processes and consolidates memories and information from the day. Dreams may also serve as a way for our brain to work through unresolved emotions and experiences. However, the exact purpose of dreaming is still not fully understood and remains a topic of ongoing research.

Veequeen:

dreams represent unconscious desires, thoughts, wish fulfillment, and motivations

turntechGodhead:

dreaming is just memories mashed with stories your mind makes up. the stories in your dreams really just try to strip the emotion out of a certain experience by creating a memory of it. bad dreams or dreams about awful memories is really just your brain trying to let you learn from them, to take the hurt out of it so you can just go on. you just dream to build your neural networks. and also i guess keep you entertained while you sleep.

hey so did you know not everything has to do with religion? with respect not everything has to correlate into god, and there's other more believable answers that don't include beliefs just saying
