Okay, everybody. I'm sure you're wondering why I asked this question because it's do "obvious". It actually isn't. Georgie boy was not the first president of the US, nor was he the best by any stretch. George Washington is actually the first president that was elected under the US Constitution (which should be specified by modern day).
So, who IS the first president of the US?
The answer is John Hanson. John Hanson is a forgotten historical figure who led the US in the actual first era of presidential election. What's probably most interesting and unknown is that Hanson is also responsible for establishing Thanksgiving Day as the fourth Thursday in November.
Nonetheless, Hanson played an important role in the development of United States Constitutional History, one often not stated, but true nonetheless. Often, Hanson is regarded as the "Forgotten First President." In a biography of John Hanson, the author says that the American Revolution had two primary leaders: George Washington in the military sphere, and John Hanson in politics which is as fair as it gets for you invested political gurus. Although one position was arguably ceremonial, and the other was somewhat official, John should have never gotten lost in history.
When I brought this point to my teacher in history class, she had nothing to say and actually had another teacher tell me not to do something like that again. I'll leave that notion up to you guys' interpretation of modern day school. 🗿
