I'm pretty sure you're right with C because halos radiant circle or disk surrounding the head of a holy person, a representation of spiritual character through the symbolism of light. In which if you look at the painting on the people's head you can see the radiant circle/disk. And it's clearly not A or D. And it's not B because Iconoclasm is the social belief in the importance of the destruction of icons and other images or monuments.

I'm positive it's C because the halo occurs in the iconography of many religions to indicate holy or sacred figures, and has at various periods also been used in images of rulers and heroes. And B would also be the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. It would make sense that C is correct, but if I'm wrong, I'm sorry. So, choose what you think is correct.
