Depends, really. If you're looking into getting into a college/art school for digital art, they'll likely request a portfolio for digital art forms. You can include other forms of art as well, but it's solely based on what they have you summit. 
I recommend having backups of what you've made and put it all on a flash drive so that way you have it for easier access.
