How do we offer solace to those who yearn?

A child adrift in a lonely space, A flower wilting against the sun, A teen lost just trying to fit in, An animal cowering in stupefied fear, An adult tangled in anxiety's snare, Grasped by the shadows of abuse, neglect, despair.

We listen. Not just with our ears, but from the bottom or our heart, To hear the faint whispers of pain hidden between the lines. We wait. Patiently, tenderly, for the words to trust, And the stories they carry, heavy and slow. We offer a hand. A simple lifeline extended, no strings attached, We hold them above water until they learn to swim. We stay. Through the dark nights, and the endless waves, Holding tight, we weather the storm. We love. With a boundless love, unfettered and unconditional, A love that heals, consoles, and surrounds thee.

No matter the hour, the day, the place, The door is open, the coffee is hot. Without hesitation, no notice required, A text, a phone call, a silent video call

We listen. We wait. We offer a hand. We stay. We love.
