It also depends on if you're shipping it or someone is shipping it to you. If you're shipping it, when you take it to the post office you should get a receipt saying around when it should arrive, however, if it's being shipped to you. You could either ask the person or assume it'll come in 1-10 business days.

it's been about a week and 5 days that he said he had shipped it he told me one was supposed to come on friday tomorrow that was last week he said that both the packages should arrive except the one was supposed to be here last saturday

Then it's most likely something has happened and it will arrive late....unless whoever this is lied and never actually sent anything. But assuming that's not the case then something happened with it being in transit.
