The dark areas on the map show the distribution of coral reefs around the world. What explanation best describes why the distribution of coral reefs is limited to the areas shown on the map? The image shows a map of coral reef distribution. The dark regions on the map indicate the presence of coral reefs. The dark regions are found off the coast of Florida, Australia, Central America and Hawaii. © 2015, Panda.org Competition for space is lowest in waters along the equator. Equatorial waters provide some of the clearest water for symbiotic algae to produce energy. Predation is lowest in areas along the equator because of increased rates of decomposition. The corals need the strong water currents found here in order to find sufficient mates.

Since there's more coral in the places that're in the dark, it means that there's more competition for them. That takes out A. We're looking at coral, not algae, so that takes out B. That leaves C and D. Look at those choices and tell me which one seems like the best one.

Phantomdex:

Uh....C? Cause don't coral reproduce asexually?
