Alone in the darkness, drowning in despair
My heart heavy with pain and deep in self-harm
Lost in my mind, consumed by depression
Feeling so empty, I couldn't find my redemption

But slowly over time, a light began to shine
A glimmer of hope that started to refine
The shadows that haunted me day and night
I found the strength within to start to fight

No longer would I let myself be destroyed
By thoughts that whispered lies and made me annoyed
I chose to break free from this destructive chain
And embrace the healing that would ease my pain

Learning to love myself was not an easy task
But one step at a time, I completed each ask
Of letting go of past hurts and harmful ways
And finding joy in simple joys for happier days

So now I stand here stronger than before
With scars as reminders of what is no more
The battle was hard but victory is sweet
For now peace and happiness are what I meet
