exactly

Shadow:

You have essentially answered the first question. America is a melting point because it has a bunch of different people from a bunch of different places.

Shadow:

You probably just want to use some nicer words, then you have a good answer for that question :)

Shadow:

Melting point: bunch of different people from a bunch of different places come to a place and melt their cultures all together. For the second part, think about American culture. How is it impacted by having all these different peoples and cultures in America? That's how the melting pot applies to it.

I just wanted to add about the last part of the concept "melting point" in America means. It is basically immigrants forgetting about their own culture once they are in America and we usually refer to it as "Americanization", so I also suggest OP to look into that more as well.

Shadow:

https://docs.house.gov/floor/ https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/floor_activity/floor_activity.htm These websites indicate the current bills being discussed by the House of Representatives and the Senate, collectively the Congress. If you do Ctrl + F or Ctrl + G you can search for 'immi' to find things related to immigration

Shadow:

I found two in the House, and one in the Senate. So you have three bills to choose from.

Shadow:

@qiqi That definitely does happen in the United States, such as children of immigrants not learning their indigenous language or carrying on their cultural practices / traditions. On the whole though, America to me feels more like a blend of cultures. Chinese food for example is a hallmark of American culture, and much like pizza is from the Italians.

Oh yeah in Canada, they call it "Mosaic" since the immigrants maintain their cultures. But these terms have been used for a long time so I guess it is also now different in America. I guess this is the point that OP has to explain in their essay. This topic is always a topic in HS debates for sure (:
