I think it depends on the app, snapchat is definitely very negative in my opinion. Instagram is 50/50  just because you have a chance of not liking who you are because of how someone looks in a post. Occasionally though it has a positive effect I just think it would depend on who is using it at that time

i think it tends to have a negative effect, but can have positive effects. spirals of addiction are very prominent at any corner, but people can get huge help and support online as well.
