Riley watched as a head rolled at her feet. She stared in terror as a fierce warrior glared down at the 8 year old.
She wanted to scream, to run, but her feet were frozen.
As the warrior knelt down to her level he removed his helmet.
"Don't be scared little one. I won't hurt you," he placated.
Riley stumbled backwards, towards the burning orphanage, tripping on a charred root.
The man lunged forward, catching her arm to keep her from falling. "Just calm down, you're safe. We need to hurry and leave. The beasts are on their way back."
And as the man spoke a vicious dragon landed harshly in front of them, letting a horrifying screech out.
"Go! Run before he can hurt you child!"
He gripped his sword and swung it at the dragon's throat, merely grazing a single scale.
Riley stood there frozen, watching as the dragon swiped the man away like he was a pesky fly.
She wasn't afraid of the creature though. If anything she was comforted by it's presence.
The dragon screeched and shot upwards, Riley in it's claws.
