DeadlyDiablo I walked in the door, feeling the usual rush of fear. I stepped quietly through the house, hoping to make it to my room in time. “Lydia.” I sighed. “Yes, father?” “Come here. I want to see you.” I walked in to see him sitting at his desk. I sighed again. He handed me a drink, and when I drank it all I coughed and blacked out. I don’t know how long I was out or what happened but I woke up in my bedroom, it was dark outside. I decided to go on a night walk, and as soon as I left the front door I felt relaxed. I walked a few miles and then sat against a tree. I gasped and jumped up when I heard a sound. What was that? I didn’t hear anything else but I was scared then, so I started to walk home. About half way, I felt someone watching me. +What’s that?+ I thought to myself. I kept walking and saw one of my friends. She was crying. There was blood!- The next thing I knew I was waking up in my own bed. “What..?” I mumbled to myself. I looked at my clock. “Oh gosh! 7:20!” Now I was really in a rush. I threw on a gray hoodie and sweats, then ran out to meet the bus just in time. I sat by my friend, Mikayla. “Hi! I saw you outside last night. Why were you crying?” She looked at me like I was crazy. “I stayed inside all night, Lyds. What are you talking about?” I was embarrassed. “Maybe I saw the wrong person or something. Well, how are you and Jake?” Immediately my first words were forgotten over giggles and squeals. “He went to bed last night at 11:30. He has his big game today! I can’t wait.” Makayla could go on and on talking about her boyfriend. They’d been together since 5th grade. We were graduating highschool this year! When the bus pulled to a stop, we got out and walked to first period. Makayla sat in her usual seat and frowned at me when Jake wasn’t here yet. “Where is he? He can’t miss, he has his game.” “I don’t know. It is odd for Jake to be here after us. I’m sure he’s on his way.” She nodded, hoping I was right. We went through the whole day without seeing him. Before we got on the bus to go to her house, a friend giggled and said, “Maybe he was brutally murdered!” Makayla did not find that funny. “Stop it! If your boyfriend missed school without a reason on his big game day, you’d be worried too!” Everyone kept giggling as we got on the bus. “Makala, don’t listen to them. They’re just jealous. You know everyone loves Jake.” She nodded, “Yeah, you’re right.” I tried to get her mind off it by telling her funny stories, and although it was working for her, it wasn’t for me. I kept thinking back to my walk last night, or maybe it was a dream. Maybe it wasn’t either, maybe it was a vision or something. I don’t know. When the bus made it to her stop I got off with her and we went inside. Immediately she texted Jake. “I don’t have any missed texts or calls from him.” She called him but got no answer. After an hour or two, she got so worried that she called his mother. She picked up on the fourth ring. “Hello?” “Hello, Miss. Smith. Do you know where Jake is?” Silence. “Miss. Smith?” “Yeah, sorry. No. He hasn’t been home since last night. He said he was going to your house.” “What? I haven’t talked to him since our call two nights ago! I’ve been so worried. He wasn’t at school today.” All of a sudden there was a scream. Makala ran outside to find someone lying on the ground. There was blood everywhere. Makala started to scream but the sound never made it out of her mouth. @DeadlyDiablo
