yeah thats what it seems like, i was thinking A or B. I think when B says "Whiskers was afraid of almost everything.." that was a direct description of him.

An indirect characterization is when the author avoids directly stating characteristics but instead does it through actions, thoughts, etc.

If you notice, B, C, and D all have action words in common; "Whiskers was afraid,' "Whiskers life was mundane," "The children were excited."

A seems to be the only one without any direct characterization.
