-School Days- Chap 3
School was a different challenge altogether. Lily was the new girl, and fitting in was proving to be difficult. Most of the students had known each other for years, and breaking into their tight-knit groups was daunting. She spent most of her lunch periods alone, reading under a tree in the school courtyard.

One day, as she sat with her nose buried in a book, she heard a voice.

“Hey, is this seat taken?”

Lily looked up to see a girl with curly red hair and a friendly smile standing in front of her.

“N-no, it’s not,” Lily stammered, surprised.

“I’m Emma,” the girl said, sitting down. “I’ve seen you around. You’re the new girl, right?”

“Yeah, I’m Lily,” she replied, feeling a bit more at ease.

“Nice to meet you, Lily. What are you reading?”

Lily showed her the cover of the book, and they quickly fell into a conversation about their favorite books and authors. For the first time since moving, Lily felt a connection with someone her own age. Emma introduced her to her group of friends, and slowly but surely, Lily began to find her place at school.
