obv some girls have diff preferences but ill just say it from my perspective
when we meet guys like at youth or something, it is cool when we have the contact or their number ya know.. but then its also cool when they talk to us, like in real life (not just online)
that sort of like builds bridges of connection between us, it gets easier to talk to them thru time and like when they show signs that they are interested to know us more or talk to us more it kinda just hits off like that ya know... its like yall are starting off as "friends" but rlly just are interested in each other and then its easier to talk to her online ya know... even on snap, thats one of the platforms, you can always snap her, find something interesting to talk about lol.... 
i feel like you should kinda talk to her more at youth, ill just say it that way
try to figure her out that way first, she will know you better that way and then it wouldnt be so awkward to talk to her over text...
