What is the value of the expression below when y, equals, 2y=2? 4, y, minus, 8 4y−8

The question is kinda confusing but for what i know, If you were to solve it like this 2y = (2)(4) y - 8, You would first have to solve for the parenthesis and you would be left with 2y = 8y - 8. Then you would subtract 8y from both sides, left with -6y = -8. The last and final step would be for you to divide by - 6, with lastly leaves you with y = 4/3

brianagatica14:

But if you were to do it like this 4y - (8) (2) y = 2 It would be a different

surjithayer:

2y=2(4y-8) divide by 2 y=4y-8 4y-y=8 3y=8 y=8/3
