Question

I stand on this old road,
where laughter once spilled,
like sun on the pavement,
where secrets whispered,
and dreams soared high,
like kites on a warm spring day.

But time twisted and turned,
and in that tangle,
I lost sight of us
lost sight of you.
I let my own jealousy,
like a dark cloud,
block out the sun.

Your love was pure,
shining like the stars,
while I hid in shadows,
clouded by my own fears.
I spoke words I shouldn’t,
thoughtless, careless,
and built a wall between you,
and that love you found.

Remember those late nights,
when we’d talk about everything,
dream about the future,
and the bond we shared,
as calm as the ocean,
as firm as the ground beneath us?

I chose chaos over calm,
and what I said seeped through,
like water through cracks in a dam,
breaking apart something beautiful,
and for that,
I’m really sorry.

It aches to think,
that I played a part,
in your heart breaking,
in that quiet goodbye,
a friendship that shattered,
into pieces we both now carry.

I wish more than anything,
to reach across the divide,
to tell you how I miss,
the laughter, the trust,
the bond we swore would never bend.

It wasn’t just your joy that fell,
but something inside me, too,
a part that thrived in your light,
a part that feels small,
lost without you beside me.

Can we find a way back
to a place where trust blooms again?
To a spot on this road,
where we can laugh,
and stitch together what broke,
through honesty and grace?

I’m standing here,
tentative, with an open heart,
hoping you’ll hear my words,
know the weight of my regret,
and somewhere, somehow,
allow the sunshine back in.

Forgive me, dear friend,
for my selfishness, for my hurt.
Let’s reclaim a piece of our past,
maybe not the same,
but a new path forward,
where love, not loss,
leads the way home.
