The Battle of Waterloo, fought on June 18, 1815, marked the end of Napoleon Bonaparte's rule in France. Napoleon was defeated by an alliance of British, Dutch, Belgian, and Prussian forces, led by the Duke of Wellington and the Prussian Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher. Following his defeat, Napoleon was exiled to the island of Saint Helena, where he spent the remaining years of his life.
