Recently broke my elbow (and nose and dislocated leg) and was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience with breaking their elbow or their arm and they did something specific that helped them have a speedy recovery. Trying to hit the slopes before the season ends and would really like to heal properly as quick as I can.

kristen000021:

I broke my collarbone

kristen000021:

you gotta let it heal proper. there ain't no way for it to heal 'faster'. but depends on how u broke it and how bad it might take 1-2 months or 3-7 weeks

judethedude:

yeah it's going to take 8-9 weeks to heal I just had surgery Monday and they cut three incisions and drilled screws into my bone.

judethedude:

knowing myself I'll probably end up doing something physical before that time anyway.

kristen000021:

damn. so yeahh there ain't no faster way to heal.. js let it heal proper or u Gon have issues in the future.. I do cuz I didn't let mine heal right

judethedude:

okay thank you !

QuietLuxe:

damn i am sorry man hope you recover and heal soon it is a whole-a.ss mess to deal with i bet

judethedude:

yeah it sure is, I did it to myself though so I guess it's my fault in the end

judethedude:

especially hard when I'm such an athletic person

Don’t be too hard on yourself though sometimes our drive to keep going can sneak up on us like that and we get hurt just like that like damn

For the first couple of weeks, I kept my leg elevated almost all the time to reduce swelling. I also used an ice pack religiously, 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. The nose? Ice was tricky there, so I wrapped a soft cloth around the ice to avoid frostbite, I won’t lie, I hated being stuck in a cast/sling. But rushing recovery isn’t worth it. Prob distract yourself with something else is the best idea, I upped my intake of calcium and vitamin D, lots of dairy, Protein was my best friend since muscles and tissues need it to rebuild after a dislocation. For my elbow, once the pain eased and the doc gave me the green light, I started doing light stretches with the other hand to regain range of motion. For the leg, I leaned on physical therapy like crazy. Even simple ankle pumps while lying down helped keep the blood flowing, Breathing through the nose was tough, so I used a humidifier to keep the airways moist. I also avoided anything that could jolt my face, Sleep propped up for a few weeks to avoid pressure on the nose. By sticking to these steps and prioritizing healing, I was back on my feet (and apparently slopes in your case) faster than expected. Just remember: proper healing > rushing back too soon🥳👍🏻

judethedude:

that's crazy I do literally everything you just listed

no clue bruh

I agree, you just have to let it heal on its own since there is no way to make the recovery faster. I broke my collarbone and right elbow so far, and then I tore my ACL ligament in my right knee 2 months ago. I just accepted it and didn't do anything that could possibly make the recovery faster since there wasn't a way to do it, and I didn't want to mess with it either because it could make it worse or it might take longer for it to heal. Basically after your elbow is healed and out of the cast, you will have to go through physical therapy so you could bend your arm again fully because once your elbow is in a cast, it'll always be in an 90 degree angle. Rn, I'm doing physical therapy for my knee so it could be stronger before surgery.

Strawberriesrgud7:

That's what happened, though. I tried to juke one of the opposing team's players and my right foot just decided to stay on the ground. So, when I turned, I felt my knee twist and I fell to the ground instantly. I was also playing flag football, but it was for PE.
