No, having a period and beginning your puberty is the start of womanhood. Having cramps is completely normal. Try to see if you can find any pads or tampons somewhere in your mom's bathroom or smth. If you can't find any, just use toilet paper in the meantime. From this day on, you'll get your period monthly and your body will start to change as you get older.
