While many criticize his presidency, what he did afterwards is honorable and should serve as a great example for other presidents:
He established the Carter Center for human rights, and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. He wrote many books about the Israeli-Palestine conflict and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1999. He continued to voice his concerns and opinions about human rights long after his presidency. He even taught at Emory University in Atlanta
Jimmy Carter was a good man, a great role model. May he rest in peace
