So first ignore the variables and exponents, and focus on the numbers. Simplify that first.

Use the rule of exponents to simplify:
So after simplifying using the rule you get: \[x^{7}\div x^{1}=x^{7-1}=x^{6}\]

After simplifying the y, you get: \[\frac{ y^{5} }{ y^{3} }=y^{5-3}=y^2\]
Since your equation is: \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\] this will be easy, just combine the simplified terms and slap it on top of a 2.
After all that you end up with: \[\frac{ x^{6}y^{2} }{ 2 }\] Hope this helps! (:
