heavy and murderous

the soil in our backyard, dry from the summer heat
I’m from the weekend game nights and organized chaos

I’m from the loud mornings and late nights

From ‘stop being greedy’ and
‘keep coming in and out the house’
I’m from no religion,
but there is a higher power that I am aware of
I’m from Waukegan,
slow cooked pot roast
and smell good soul food.
From the late night talks with my short, chubby and older sister
the goofing around with my tall, tree branch looking brother.
in dark corners of my very scary and spooky basement
I am from the lyrics that come in hip-hop and R&B
