\[x^2=-1\]
... and the last step \[x^{2} = -1 , x_{1}=\sqrt{-1}, x_{1}= i ,i^{2}= -1\]

but there is given \[7-x^{2}=6 \] adding x^2 to both sides will get \[7=6+x^{2}\] subtracting 6 from both sides will get \[1=x^{2}\] \[x_{1,2}= +/- \sqrt{1}\] so in this way \[x_{1,2}= +/- 1\]
