STARTED WRITING POEMS INSPIRED BY THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS, THIS IS ENVY Her skin as pale as aging bone, Her beauty something I’ve never known, I watched her day and night, Her perfection a sickening sight. I once believed it was love, Followed her everywhere, my fragile dove, I watched as the world followed her lead, I wanted that too, my heart in need. I wore her clothes, stole her face, Yet I still saw her in my place, Everyone loved her, I wanted it all, Yet with her there I felt so small. It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t right, I just needed to get her out of sight, Maybe then I’d feel complete, Would she forgive such dark deceit? But love wasn’t what I craved, Late that night, a vow was made, I could make her disappear, No struggle or fight, face laced with fear. I followed her again tonight, She looked so perfect out of sight, Oh how I envied her my whole life, And now she’d pay for it with a knife. Her blood dripping on the floor so perfect, No joy, no love, not what I came to collect, But I heard the sirens song, at last they came, At least now the world would know my name.
