And that's sweet of me to say
But it's not completely true
Because how could I forget?
When you never left my thoughts.

How could I have stopped?
When you're everything I've got.
I see you in my dreams,
Where we make new memories.

I can't get you out of my mind.
You with those cloudy eyes,
The startling silver storms,
Swirling throughout time.

Well, I have one thing left to say,
And I hope you'll understand,
But among those smoky skies,
The moon is beautiful isn't it?

Maybe in another universe,
We could be meant for each other.
Maybe instead of me and you,
It could be we, or us.

We could dance in the rain together
Under a light, on an empty street.
I'd take you places you'd never seen,
And I'd bring you flowers every week.

My love for you would be mutual,
And these poems would be shared with you,
And those scenarios I think of all the time,
Would be memories we'd made together.

But we aren't in another universe,
And we aren't meant to be.
So, instead, it is me and you,
And never both of us, as "we."
