The Light You Left in Me


Every path in life has led me to you.
Even if I take a road to forget,
It will only turn me back to you.

We found each other not by choice,
Not by chance, nor by mistake.
We never drained; we only grew,
I watered you, and you did too.
So let’s keep growing, side by side.

Even if a thousand hearts adore you,
Their love would be a single drop
Against the ocean I hold for you.

And know this my door is always open.
You may enter, you may leave,
Without a word, without a plea.
Whatever choice your heart may make,
I will accept it, wholeheartedly.

But if one day the world feels cold,
And the weight of life too much to hold,
Turn around you’ll find me there,
Waiting, always, with open arms.

So let’s keep walking, step by step,
Heart to heart, through all we face.
Wherever life may choose to lead,
I will walk with you.

I do not ask for love in return.
To love you is enough.
To have known you, to have felt alive with you
That is my greatest joy, and I will carry it always.

You came like light in my darkness,
A warmth in my cold solitude.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
