when its mostly obvious what a species is, you wouldn't need to take a cows DNA to see what it is if you can see that it clearly looks like a cow

Morphology is truly only useful for cladograms of very recent species. In general, a cladogram based on morphological characteristics is not a great option, since it can make incorrect assumptions that may have resulted from individuals evolving in a similar manner due to environmental pressures in their respective environments.
